Effective date: October 8, 2026
Welcome to What's better?. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the What's better? mobile app and its pages on www.esdroid.com, how it is used, and what choices you have.
What's better? is published under the ESdroid brand by Szymon Barylak, pl. ks. Piotra Skargi 11/12, 63-700 Krotoszyn, Poland ("ESdroid", "we", "us"), who is responsible for the information described here. The same policy applies to our other question games: Yes or No, What's worse?, Would you rather?. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use What's better?.
What What's better? is
What's better? is a game of short questions. You pick one of two answers and see how other players answered. You can also submit your own questions, which other players see once we approve them.
Information you give us
- Questions you submit. The text of a question you send from What's better? is stored on our server and, once approved by a moderator, shown to all players. If you have a player account, your nickname is saved with the question as its author. Do not put personal information into a question.
- Answers, reactions and reports. When you answer, rate or report a question, we only add one to that question's totals. We do not store who answered what, so the totals cannot be traced back to you.
- Feedback. If you send us feedback or a rating through the app, we store its text and the rating. It is not linked to you.
- Player account (optional). You can play without an account. If you create one, we store the nickname you choose and a fingerprint of a secret key that is generated for you and kept on your device. We do not ask for your name, e-mail address or phone number.
- Boards for friends. In games that have boards of questions for friends, we store the boards you create and the answers you and your friends give on them, linked to your nickname, so that they can be shown to the people you invite. Older versions of these games also store a password (as a one-way hash, never in readable form), the avatar you picked, and the notification address of your device.
- Messages to us. If you write to us by e-mail, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to answer you.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Like every internet service, our server records technical data about each request: the IP address, the date and time, the address requested and the type and version of the app or browser. We use it to keep the service running, to limit abuse (for example too many requests from one address) and to find faults. Logs are kept only as long as that requires.
- Our web pages. The pages of What's better? on www.esdroid.com do not use advertising cookies. If you accept in the banner at the bottom of the page, we use Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited), which sets cookies and sends your IP address, device and page-use data to Google, to count visits and see which pages are read. Without your consent nothing from Google Analytics is loaded. You can withdraw your choice at any time by clearing the site data of www.esdroid.com in your browser; a browser that sends the Global Privacy Control signal is treated as declining.
Services of other companies inside the app
What's better? is free and shows advertisements. To show them, to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes, the app contains software of Google, which collects data on its own behalf:
- Google AdMob shows advertisements. It may use your device's advertising ID, information about your device and your approximate location derived from the IP address. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent (through Google's consent form) before ads are personalised. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Firebase: Analytics gives us statistics about how the app is used, Crashlytics sends us reports of crashes, and Remote Config lets us change settings of the app without an update; Cloud Messaging delivers notifications. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.
- Google Play provides the window in which you can rate the app and handles purchases made in the app; we never receive your payment details.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID and turn off personalised ads in the settings of your device (Settings > Google > Ads), and turn off notifications of What's better? in the system settings of the app.
How we use information
- to run the game: to show questions, count answers and publish the questions players submit;
- to keep your account and show you the status of the questions you submitted;
- to moderate content and prevent abuse of the service;
- to understand how the app is used, fix problems and improve it;
- to show advertisements, which pay for the app.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on: providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and improving it, and your consent where it is required (for example for personalised ads).
Who we share information with
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Questions you submit become public once approved, together with the nickname of their author if you have an account.
- Google receives the data its software collects in the app, as described above.
- Our hosting provider stores the data on our server on our behalf.
- We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our players and of ESdroid.
- If ESdroid or What's better? is sold or merged, the information may pass to the new owner, who will have to respect this policy.
Where and how long we keep information
- Our server is located in Canada, a country that the European Commission recognises as giving adequate protection to personal data handled by commercial organisations. Google may process the data its software collects in other countries, as described in its policies.
- Your account is kept until you delete it, or until it has not been used for 2 years, when it is deleted automatically. Questions and totals of answers are kept for as long as the game exists, because they are the content of the game.
- We protect the information with reasonable technical measures, such as encrypted connections and storing secret keys and passwords only as one-way fingerprints. No service on the internet can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
Deleting your account and your data
You can delete your player account in the app at any time. It removes your nickname and your key from our server for good, together with the boards and answers linked to the account. Questions you submitted that are already published stay in the game; write to us if you want your nickname removed from them, or a question withdrawn.
If you no longer have the app, write to contact@esdroid.com and give the name of the app (What's better?) and your nickname. An account has no e-mail address or password, so we cannot check who is asking: to keep anyone from having somebody else's account removed, we carry out such a request only when the account has not been used for 60 days. An account still in use can be deleted in the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its use, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw a consent you gave. To use these rights, write to contact@esdroid.com. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority of your country.
Children
What's better? is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when the app changes. The current version is always on this page, with the date it took effect at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app.
